Still trying to catch up on my blog posts about my trip to London & Paris... Sorry for the delay.
By now you know I'm a huge fan of BrewDog so when I was in London I knew I had to hit up at least one of their bars. They've opened so many awesome beer bars all over the UK spreading the craft beer love wherever they land.
After a long confusing bike ride through the city we finally arrived at BrewDog Shoredtich.
I spotted it a mile away because of this beauty.
The bar was super busy and full of people enjoying BrewDog beers as well as beers from their guest beer list. Great music and the smell of BBQ filled the air. They have a Texas BBQ menu so you can pair some great food with your beer. We stuck to grabbing a bag of chips (which were excellent but I've forgotten the brand).
They had lots of great beers on tap at this location. Everything from session beers to some really really big ABV brews. On top of having an amazing draft list they have an even bigger bottle list. The list has BrewDog beers of course but has beers from all over too. Stone, Mikkeller, Alesmith, Dieu Du Ciel, and many more. They had American craft beer I can't get in Arizona. Crazy huh.
The bar is done BrewDog style... concrete, steel, chalk, and beer. I love the branding that continues from the beer itself all the way to the bars. The large windows provide a great view of the area surrounding the bar.
Don't forget about UnderDog. I didn't know about it when I visited but if you go be sure to head downstairs for an awesome beer cocktail experience.
My wife got the Raspberry Blitz which was an amazing example of a sour. I was really surprised how much she enjoyed it. And I have to thank BrewDog for making this beer. Every since she tried this she's been more and more into beer. She's all about trying sours, lambics, or fruit based beers now. Before then it was tough to get her to try alot of beers.
For me I started with Dead Metaphor. This 6.5% stout is one crazy stout. There's so much going on but at the same time it meshes together so well. They brewed it like a milk stout (I know...as a vegan I just failed) with loads of chocolate and coffee... and of course loads of hops. This is no mellow or boring milk stout. This is how I like my stouts... loads of flavor.
Meet Mr Jack Hammer. This is was a great west coast style hop bomb. I was in need of a massive hop fix. Well Jack Hammer hit the spot with loads and loads of Columbus hops and Centennial Hops. This would make the west coast proud. This super bitter and hoppy goodness is exactly what us hopheads love. If you're not into hoppy beers well take BrewDog's warning:
"be warned: this beer has more bitterness than a human palate (or nipple) can detect. For freaks, craft beer junkies and stamp collectors only."
If you are in the UK or plan on visiting the UK be sure to add any of the BrewDog bars to your list. And of course if you make your way up to Scotland definitely hit up the brewery (still on my dream list). These bars are a guaranteed way to get great craft beer and have a great time.
